Skye Boat Song - Traditional Scottish Rowing Song. I've travelled to Skye many times, and climbed the peaks and ridges both in the Red and Black Cuillins Hills. Transgendered Musician - Denise Hewitt - performs this haunting song on my Technics PR903 Digital Piano augmented by some synthesised orchestral strings. During a trip back on Wednesday 15th June 2005, I had the good fortune to travel to Skye by the beautiful Glenelg - Kylerhea car ferry. Passing through the Straits of Kylerhea - Caol Reatha - at this time was the unusual sight of an exotic international flotilla of NATO Naval vessels including the following ships A230 - Admiral Pitka - Estonian Naval Coastal Patrol P554 - HDMS Makrelen - Danish Coastal Patrol Vessel MSF1 - Danish "Drone" Mine Clearance Vessel M923 - Narcis - Belgian MineHunter/Mine Sweeper M1065 - Dillingen - German Naval Mine Hunter This small flotilla of naval ships left Leith, Edinburgh on 3rd June 2005, and then sailed around the the British Coastline finally arriving in Portsmouth on 24th June 2006. It was an awesome sight to watch these ships sail swiftly and silently, one-by-one, through the narrow Kylerhea straits which are only around 330metres wide at their narrowest point!....
